About Us
HSBC UK – Early careers (Retail Bank and Commercial Bank)
Early careers here, they’re a different world.
In our world, you’ll build a career unlike any other. We have 200,000 employees and 40 million clients across the globe. That means bigger opportunities, clearer purpose and growth that’s built by you. All whilst having a global career, locally.
At HSBC UK, you can build a career shaped by real people and real purpose. We support millions of customers across the UK — from individuals managing everyday money, to businesses working hard to grow. That means you can learn quickly, take on meaningful work, and see the difference you make.
We’re proud of the different experiences and perspectives our people bring. Your background matters, but it doesn’t limit what you can achieve here.
Your skills are the priority, not what you’ve studied. Influencing people, digital prowess, understanding customers or advocating for your community. In this environment, you’ll discover and refine parts of yourself you never knew existed.
Where you belong
You could start in our Retail Bank, where finance meets real life. We help customers buy homes, grow savings, and run everyday money confidently. You'll work with data, digital products, and customer journeys that help shape communities.
Or you could join our Commercial Bank, supporting businesses to achieve their goals. You’ll help build trusted relationships, understand what clients need, and connect them with the right people across the bank so they can access the support and financial solutions that fit.
We offer a range of programme types, including Spring Insight Weeks, internships, work placements, and graduate programmes. Whichever route you take, you’ll be supported through structured learning, plus mentor and buddy schemes, to build skills that will stay with you throughout your career.
Who you are
You’re curious, enjoy solving problems, and like working with people. You communicate clearly, take initiative, work well in a team, and you care about giving great service. You don’t need to be a business expert — if you’re open-minded and ready to learn, you’ll fit right in.
