Overview
Join Hartree Partners’ Front Office for an immersive summer internship that offers a unique window into trading, data, strategy, and software development in global commodity markets. This programme is designed for motivated individuals with strong technical, analytical, or commercial skills who are eager to learn from top-tier professionals in a fast-paced environment.
You will be matched to a placement within one of several Front Office teams based on your background, interests, and the business's needs. While you may express areas of interest, final placement decisions will be made by Hartree to ensure the best fit across the programme.
Key Responsibilities
As responsibilities vary by placement, you may be involved in areas such as:
- Supporting traders, analysts, or strategists with data analysis and market research
- Building or contributing to dashboards, automation tools, or trading models
- Coding in Python or working with databases (SQL) to support technical workflows
- Collaborating with stakeholders to deliver high-quality, actionable outputs
- Presenting findings and insights to technical and non-technical teams
Required Qualifications
Candidates should meet the following criteria:
- Strong coding or data analysis skills in Python and SQL (optional)
- Problem-solving and critical thinking ability
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Interest in commodities, finance, markets, or technology
- Currently studying or recently graduated in a relevant subject (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Mathematics)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with dashboarding tools (e.g. Tableau, Plotly Dash, Streamlit)
- Understanding of trading, financial modelling, or analytics workflows
- Research or project-based work demonstrating initiative and insight
