Retail Banking at HSBC helps millions of customers manage their everyday finances while planning for longer-term goals like saving, investing and building financial confidence. It involves large-scale, customer-focused banking, giving people the tools, guidance and digital services they need at different life stages.

Who you are

You’re curious, solutions-focused and motivated by making things work better for customers and teams. You don’t need to be a business expert yet — what matters is your mindset, your openness to learning and your interest in customer experience. You could be a great fit if you enjoy working with different people, asking smart questions and getting to the heart of what needs to change. You communicate clearly, think analytically and like turning complexity into practical ideas. You’re proactive, not passive — you spot opportunities, bring suggestions forward and want to make an impact. If you’re interested in digital, data and improving banking for everyday customers, this could be a strong fit.

What you'll do

You’ll rotate through customer, digital, commercial and delivery teams to build the skills needed to shape better banking. You could explore complaints, disputes, fraud or Premier customer experiences, turning themes into practical problem statements and opportunities for improvement. In Digital or Digital Channels, you’ll use customer journey and data insights to diagnose friction and support digital adoption. You may also work with business management teams to understand commercial priorities, track KPIs and measure value, before helping delivery and strategic execution teams land safe, responsible change at pace. Through each rotation, you’ll work across Retail Banking to make banking simpler, smarter and more customer-focused.

What you'll learn

You’ll begin with structured training, then build your knowledge through hands-on learning, mentoring and coaching. Through rotations linked to the bank’s strategic priorities, you’ll deepen your understanding of customer-obsession, digital and technology, commerciality, and delivery, gaining hands-on experience into how digitisation and technology can simplify banking for customers and colleagues. You’ll learn how customer journeys work across customer channels, digital teams, and products and propositions, and how insight can be turned into meaningful change. The programme is designed to help you deply understand our customers, build your delivery capability, and develop and a stronger understanding of the retail bank as a whole. By the end, you’ll have a clearer view of how this part of HSBC operates and the skills to build a thriving career in a customer-obsessed environment.

It’s a collaborative environment where customer, product and service teams work together to improve how HSBC supports customers day to day.
